ViPC Monthly Pigment Meeting

Since its establishment, the Vitiligo and Pigment Clinic (ViPC) has been dedicated to promoting clinical education and knowledge-sharing in the field of pigmentary disorders. Our monthly Journal Reading and Case Discussion Sessions held at Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital aim to provide a platform for in-depth learning and the latest updates in pigmentary research—particularly for dermatology residents and physicians interested in vitiligo and hypopigmentary diseases.

This month’s session continued our focus on pigmentary disorders, covering two distinct but clinically relevant topics—guttate leukoderma and dermoscopic features of melanoma—bridging both hypopigmented and pigmented conditions.

Chapter 11: Guttate Leukoderma
This presentation reviewed the clinical patterns, differential diagnosis, and proposed pathogenetic mechanisms of guttate leukoderma. Special emphasis was placed on distinguishing guttate leukoderma from vitiligo and other hypopigmented disorders, as well as the current gaps in evidence regarding its management.

Chapter 4: Dermoscopy of Melanoma
This presentation introduced dermoscopic principles for the evaluation of melanoma, highlighting key diagnostic patterns, algorithms, and pitfalls in differentiating malignant melanocytic lesions from benign mimickers. Clinical cases were used to illustrate how dermoscopy enhances early melanoma detection and improves diagnostic accuracy.
